Not the usual suspects – Injectable treatments you may not have tried yet.

Upping the ante, cosmetic clinics are offering patients even more sophisticated ways to roll back the years and rejuvenate the face and body with new wave injectable tweakments on the menu that promises to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, brighten tired eyes and contour sag.

The wrinkle relaxer

The first signs of ageing often manifest between the eyebrows with ‘11’ lines, making a face look angry and tired. Addressing lines and wrinkles, step forward Relfydess, a toxin that’s set to arrive to the UK later this year. Unlike some other brands that must be mixed up with a saline solution in clinic, Relfydess is ready to inject and created with PEARL technology designed to deliver a highly active molecule that in trials is reported to have wrinkle relaxing effects on 39% of patients from day one. Up to 75% of patients also maintained the effects for six months rather than the usual four.

The Eye and Body Brightener

PLINEST (from £450) is a new type of skin booster that contains polynucleotide chains, which are tiny parts of DNA and RNA that have the ability to attract water molecules imparting deep hydration, which no face cream could ever deliver. The Polynucleotides also help to rebuild skin cells and fight free radicals, (molecules caused by pollution and stress) that age skin and are showing promising signs on improving the appearance of stretchmarks and scars. The product, which is derived from trout DNA is delivered with multiple injections and also activates new collagen networks and works particularly well to rejuvenate crepey eyes. Be prepared for a few days downtime however, as temporary blisters, mild swelling and bruising may occur. When I treated my neck and decollate using Plinest, a product that combines polynucleotides with hyaluronic acid, it took 3 days for the bumps to subside. Many doctors are also using Plinest on ageing body parts such wrinkly knees, elbows and thighs to reinforce and refresh the bikini line area that can pucker and sometimes pigment with age. For best results three sessions are recommended, four weeks apart and the effects last around six months.

The Contour Restore

One of the problems of ageing is that fat cells that play an important role in supporting the youthful structure of the face atrophy causing both sagging and gauntness, which often becomes more prominent in people with longer, more oval shaped faces. Aiming to address this concern Profhilo have launched a new formula Profhilo Structura (from £790 for a two-part treatment) that rather than addressing the texture of crinkly skin (like the original Profhilo) promises instead to rejuvenate fat cells. The formula which is injected into the mid face around the cheekbone area contains HCC ( Hybrid Co-operative Complexes) that are stable molecules of two Hyaluronic acids of different molecular weights which amplify fat cell viability. For best results a couple of treatments are recommended and rather than inflate skin like a filler this gives the treated area, a slightly tauter appearance.
